The Peninsula Fine Arts Center is looking for enthusiastic people who can share their time and talents to help one of the area’s cultural assets.
Due to an invigorated and re-energized roster of programs, exhibitions and events, Pfac needs individuals and groups to aid in implementation of the Center’s ambitious plans. All manner of skills are needed to cover a variety of duties, both with the public and behind-the-scenes, including: community relations, marketing, fundraising, education, tour guides, graphic design, visitor services, exhibition installation, building and grounds, administrative assistance, data entry and event and program implementation.
Volunteers can qualify for benefits usually only offered to Pfac members or staff, including Gallery Shop discounts, member-only reception invitations and previews, plus the opportunity to associate with artists and crafts people.
To volunteer, call 596-8175 to have our volunteer coordinator best match your interests to the Center’s needs. Please download the following information as it applies to you. Adult volunteers must bring the signed background check form to PFAC, which will handle the associated fee.
Become a Docent
Docents provide an important introduction to the center for a variety of groups, ranging from school tours to scout troops to retirement community residents. Our docents are trained in not only the subject matter, but also in ways to provoke discussion, reaction and ideas from visitors. Docents have the ability to create interest in art and relate it to visitors’ lives.
PFAC encourages adults of all ages and backgrounds to apply to the docent program. While docents are typically most needed during daytime hours, some evening or weekend tours might be scheduled.
Free admission to the museum is provided to docents. If not already members, docents can earn a one-year membership by accumulating volunteer hours (80 total for an Individual Membership; 120 total hours for a Family Membership). Intern at PFAC
Non-paid internships are offered at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center throughout the year. During the school year, interns are requested to work a minimum of eight hours per week. During the summer, interns are requested to work between 20-40 hours per week. Internships are available in the curatorial, education, marketing, and development departments. Evaluation of all interns will be completed at the end of their internship periods.
Applicants interested in an internship must submit:
- Cover letter, expressing their area of interest
- Resume with two references
- Two letters of recommendation (academic)
- Writing or Design Samples (if necessary for department)
