PFAC’s Healing Arts Program will be held at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in the domiciliary unit this summer, June – August 2016.

Each four-week sessions is led by a PFAC Art Therapist.

Healing Arts enables active-duty soldiers, veterans, and their families to address the emotional and psychological effects of combat experience with art therapy services provided via a curriculum developed in partnership with EVMS. It is so important because 30% of all Veterans now struggle to cope with life after war. Post-Traumatic-Stress Disorder, suicide, and other mental-health issues in returning troops and veterans have gained media attention, which reports that an average of 18 veterans commit suicide every day.

PFAC is so fortunate to have been awarded a grant for Healing Arts with programming developed for individuals with disabilities. But, we must raise matching dollars in order to continue our work. Peninsula Fine Arts Center hopes to raise $5,000 by May 31st to continue our work in Healing Arts, with your help we’ll raise the much needed funds to continue this important program.
