Gallery Hosts and Volunteers Needed for upcoming NASA exhibition
SOARING – Works from the NASA Art Program will open April 7. with a Memebers/VIP reception.
Our upcoming Gallery Host and Docent training is Thursday, April 6 from 9:30-11am.
We will need Gallery Hosts/docents in the galleries April 7 from 5-7pm and then you are welcome to head over to the reception at CNU for an open bar, heavy hors d’ oeuvres and live music under the stars.
We will also need Gallery Hosts for our HUGE April 8th Community Day. The hours are 10am-4pm, and the day can be divided into smaller shifts as well. We are collaborating with The Mariners’ Museum and Park and the CNU Art department, to offer free admission, a Steam Roller in the parking lot making large scale prints, 3D printers, the NASA Centennial Trailer exhibit, hands-on activities and more! It should be very exciting and we’ll need lots of volunteers to ensure the day is successful!
This show has many familiar artists: Norman Rockwell, Peter Max, Andy Warhol and more! NASA began an Art Program in the 1960s and popular artists were commissioned and given behind the scenes access and allowed to create art without any constraints. At the programs end in 2008, there were over 3,000 pieces. Most of these pieces are in the National Air and Space Museum in DC, but we will have 30 pieces from the collection.
