Maya Carved Yoke
PFAC has a wonderful carved yoke as a part of our Americas exhibition. The exhibit is focused on Pre-Columbian art. The study of artifacts of the Ancient Americas gives us the opportunity to learn about the ancient people who lived in Central America before the arrival of Christopher Columbus. When Christopher Columbus arrived in the New World, he thought he landed in India and called the natives “Indians”. Remnants , liked the Maya carved yoke, of everyday and ceremonial artifacts provide us with insights into the lives and religions of ancient cultures.
